2012 will be our 25th year presenting Cincinnati's Juneteenth Festival...and we're working hard to make it a great celebration!

In addition to the Festival on June 16-17, we have arranged and will contoinue to be arranging events and activities between January and June.

                                                  Beyond Emancipation
Juneteenth Cincinnati in partnership with the Kennedy Heights Arts Center is pleased to present a stunning new exhibit Beyond Emancipation

Beyond Emancipation
is an exploration of post-emancipation African-American culture through contemporary art, with works on display representative of the connection between the past and recent history.

The exhibition honors the 25th anniversary of  Cincinnati’s Juneteenth Festival.  Curator Barbara Gamboa describes the group of exhibiting artist as “a rich and Powerful” group. 

The show will include contemporary paintings, photographs and three-dimensional work from talented and influential Cincinnati artists

In addition, works created by participants at Clovernook Center For the Blind and visually Impaired are on display.

A Selection of historical photographs lent from Cincinnati families supplements the art work and together, these images take the viewer on a journey through ideas and culture recognizing and celebrating the connection between past and present.

Beyond Emancipation will be on display in the Kennedy Heights Arts Center Gallery from January 14 to February 25, 2012.  An opening reception will be held Saturday, January 14 from 6 to 8pm. 

 The arts center is located at 6546 Montgomery Road. 
Admission is free.
Gallery hours are Tuesday-Thursday 10am to 6pm, Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 11am to 4pm.  Call (513) 631-4278 for more information.                                               
                                            February 4 Fund Raiser
                                         Kennedy Heights Arts Center
During the Beyond Emancipation exhibit, Juneteenth Cincinnati will host a Fund Raiser on February 4th at the Kennedy Heights Arts Center.  We'll have refreshments & entertainment.

Juneteenth Cincinnati has partnered with the Cincinnati Public Library to present a Juneteenth Reading Llist for February and March.

The librarians have compiled the following reading lists. Books are available at the Main Library and library branches throughout Hamilton county.
