We had a great time celebrating freedom with your families and the community ! We've posted some photos folks taken on Saturday and Sunday (June 19-20) on a photo sharing website. All you should have to do is click HERE.  We'll post more (and sort these better) soon.

Juneteenth celebrates the end of American slavery. Slavery "officially" ended in 1865...and Cincinnati commemorates &  celebrates that historic event with the annual Juneteenth Festival.

The Festival organizers (all volunteers) have been working for months to make sure you and your family can have a great weekend in Eden Park.

  • A unique "Parade of Flags" (at about 12:30); young *and not so young) folks will parade through the park showing the colors of over 70  countries, representing lands from which Africans were captured and enslaved and the lands to which they were taken to live and work as enslaved people.

    Continuous entertainment on two stages throughout the afternoon, with a final blockbuster concert at 6:30  in Seasongood Pavilion, featuring The Deele and Slave.

    A very active Children's Area with free horse rides by the Cincinnati Urban Cowboys, games, books and read-alouds, crafts...and, of course...free balloons.

    Drum line Showcase, featuring enthusiastic & talented high school drummers from  Cincinnati and Columbus.

    Health screening and information by volunteer health professionals

    Historical exhibits from numerous area museums, with a focus on the history of slavery & its legacy

    Much, much more.

Vendors
The Juneteenth Festival ioffers a great opportunity to sell crafts, books, clothing, etc...or to distribute information about your company, agency, or services. Our fees are very reasonable. Click on VENDORS for details and an application form.

Parking on Gilbert and along street up to the Playhouse in the Park (follow signs).
We have arranged for parking at the Cincinnati Association for the Blind, which is on Gilbert, just north of the park entrance. Free shuttle busing to the Festival.
